Illini: No. 82

So, where does the Illinois women's basketball program rank -- right now -- among the nation's programs? Swish Appeal puts the Illini at No. 82.

The women's hoops Website writes thusly of the Illini: "Jolette Law has taken Illini to WNIT two of the last three years. But Illinois fans seem to have expected more, and (forward) Destiny Williams' transfer doesn't help."

Hmmm. That comment about "Illinois fans seem to have expected more" seems like a bit of a shot. Is that to suggest that Illini fans were expecting too much? I wouldn't agree that Illini fans expectations were unduly high.

Any thoughts?

There is no reason why Illinois fans shouldn't expect their women's basketball team to finish in the top half of the Big 10 most years and occasionally make a run in the NCAA tournament.

Anything less, than upper 3rd finish in the Big 10 (12) each year with a NCAA tournament bid, is totally unacceptable! Jollette Law has managed to keep women Illini irrelevant and an embarrasment.

Bring back Theresa Grentz. At least she knew how to coach.

Our next coach should be someone who has been a head coach and has led their team to a conference championship and a sweet sixteen in the NCAA.
