Jean Driscoll To Represent President Bush at Beijing Paralympics

President Bush can't make it to the opening ceremonies of the Paralympics in Beijing, so he is sending a committee of seven to represent him.   Of the seven, three are Paralympic athletes.  Of the three, one is our own Jean Driscoll.

Jean leaves tomorrow (Sept 4) and returns on September 10.  She was selected after an extensive interview process and examination of references and background.  Others in the delegation include the U.S. Ambassador to China, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, an Army Lt. Colonel and the Director of Disabled Sports, USA.

During the interview process Jean talked about the work she has been doing with people who have disabilities in Ghana, West Africa, since 200l.   Shortly thereafter she received a formal invitation in the mail from the White House inviting her to a morning "Welcoming Ceremony" for the President of Ghana and his wife on September 15.  This will be followed by an evening State Dinner with both presidents, their wives, and about 130 guests.

Jean says this is a great opportunity for her - and cause for a new dress.
