USA Volleyball picks Kordes
Anne Kordes, a former Illini assistant coach, has been selected by USA Volleyball's Indoor High Performance program as one of its head coaches for the 2010 season.
USA Volleyball announced the appointment Thursday.
The sixth-year St. Louis University head coach will direct the U.S. Girls’ Select National Teams during the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships July 27-31 in Sevierville, Tenn.
Kordes was the top assistant on the Illini staff from 1999 to 2003 before landing the Billikens' head coaching position. She has a 127-58 record at St. Louis, where her teams have made three NCAA Tournament appearances and won Atlantic 10 regular-season titles each of the last four seasons.
USA Volleyball also named former Ohio State coach Jim Stone as head coach of the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team. That squad will compete at the NORCECA Girls’ Youth Continental Championship April 25-May 3 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
In addition, St. Mary's (Calif.) coach Rob Browning was chosen as head coach of the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team. The team will represent the U.S. in the NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Championship July 4-12 in Tijuana, Mexico.
