A very good evening for the Illini, as all three wrestlers post wins.  Blanton and Dergo are through to the quarterfinals, while Bond stays alive in the consolation bracket.  Blanton will face #2 seed Jay Borschel of Iowa, while Dergo will take on #7 seed Joe LeBlanc from Wyoming.  Bond's next opponent is Riley Orozco from Cal State Bakersfield.  More details below:

Jordan Blanton was the first Illini wrestler to compete this afternoon in the NCAA Championships.  Blanton won his first-round match with Duke Birk of Iowa State by a 4-3 score.  Blanton is the #10 seed at 174, while Burk was unseeded.  However, Blanton lost a close match to Burk earlier this season at Midlands.  Updated brackets are below.  #2 seed John Dergo at 184 should be up shortly for the Illini.
