No. 2: Texas

Why I like the Longhorns: Colt McCoy is the best non-Heisman winning quarterback in this year's class. And he would have won the Heisman had the Longhorns been allowed to play in the Big 12 title game instead of Oklahoma. Oh well, maybe this year. Receiver Jordan Shipley is coming off an 89-catch season and Brandon Collins caught 35 passes. Four starters are back on the offensive line. So is tight end Blaine Irby. The defense welcomes back seven starters, including the top five tacklers. Both starting specialists are back. Mack Brown has proven year after year that he is one of the nation's top recruiters and his coaching reputation continues to improve. Texas Tech and Kansas visit Austin.

Why I don't: The leading returning rusher besides McCoy gained just 376 yards last season. The Longhorns need more balance. Yes, the defense returns a bunch of guys, but was 104th nationally against the pass. The Longhorns have to visit Oklahoma State on Oct. 31. Last year, the Cowboys almost knocked off Texas. Oklahoma will also be seeking revenge in Dallas on Oct. 17.
