No. 4: Oklahoma
Why I like the Sooners: The defending Heisman Trophy winner is back and he's just a junior. Sam Bradford threw for 4,720 yards and 50 touchdowns last season. About the only thing I couldn't do was get the Sooners over the hump against Florida. Maybe next time. Tight end Jermaine Gresham is coming off a 66-catch, 14-touchdown season. With Juaquin Iglesias gone, Gresham becomes Bradford's primary target. Tailbacks DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown combined for 2,222 yards and 34 touchdowns last season. The defense returns nine starters, including the front seven. Bob Stoops averages almost 11 wins a season.
Why I don't: The offensive line is almost all new, with only one starter returning. Maybe Bradford won't have the time to throw he did last season. While it's nice to have so many starters back on defense, those guys gave up 45 points to Texas and 41 points to Oklahoma State. Can Oklahoma recover from the disappointing BCS title game loss to Florida? There could be a hangover. The schedule includes potentially difficult games at Miami, Kansas, Nebraska and Texas Tech. Plus the annual game in Dallas against Texas. And a sleeper game against BYU in Dallas to open the season.
