No. 9: Jarred Fayson, receiver
Why he's important: Considered to be a strong No. 2 option at receiver behind star Arrelious Benn. Has performed well during his two springs at Illinois, though his 2009 session was cut short by an injury. His leg is fully healed and isn't expected to be a problem for him at Camp Rantoul. At Florida, he worked as a receiver, running back and on returns. Caught 12 passes for 148 yards in 2007 and ran for another 89. Caught three touchdown passes. Besides working as a receiver at Illinois, will also get a long look as a returner.
Getting personal: Friendly Tampa native was considered a superstar recruit at Hillsborough, where he played quarterback. Rated the nation's No. 3 receiver prospect by one service. Played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl after his senior season. Picked Florida over Georgia, Oklahoma, Southern Cal, Alabama and others. Southern Cal used current Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin to recruit him. Developed a strong relationship with former Illinois offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, now the coach at New Mexico.
