10 days to Camp Rantoul

For 50 days, we're ranking the most important Illini for the 2010 season.

No. 10: Eddie McGee, receiver

Why he's important: We probably should put a slash above and list quarterback after receiver. It's the position McGee came to Illinois to play and a position that could be part of his senior year. Though nobody has said anything officially, McGee has to be considered among the backup quarterback options in reserve of starter Nathan Scheelhaase. What the Illinois coaches really want is a healthy Scheelhaase throwing a steady diet of passes to McGee. The senior has been willing to take on any task asked by the coaches and showed his ability to catch with a big play at Minnesota. McGee has also become an important leader on the team. The one-time heir apparent to Juice Williams could have squawked about moving to receiver. Instead, he has happily moved and done whatever the coaches ask. If Illinois has a bounce-back season, you can bet McGee will be in the middle of it, making places at different spots on the field.

Fast fact: Brett Favre fan has a family history in college football. His grandfather, Francis, played the sport..

Tomorrow: No. 9
