Give the Illinois football program credit for making Josh Brent available to the media after his first practice Thursday. The defensive tackle, who spent a month in the jail during the summer after a DUI conviction, talked openly about his issues.

What Brent didn't do, and can't do, is predict his future on the field. There is a possibility he will be suspended for a game or two. But when you read between the lines of Ron Zook's comments, you get a strong sense that the coach feels Brent has been punished enough.

Ultimately, the decision will come down to Zook and athletic director Ron Guenther. Don't expect an immediate announcement. More likely, a decision will be made in the week or two before the Missouri game.
