21 days to 2009 opener
The Illinois players got today off. Mostly. And so did the News-Gazette's football beat writer. Mostly.
The Illini and the writer will be back at it early Monday morning. With plenty of mistakes to talk about in Saturday's scrimmage, Ron Zook will have a lot to talk about with his team. Sports editor Jim Rossow will also take me to task for my blunders.
But the Camp Rantoul light is at the end of the tunnel. Technically, six more days in my second-favorite Champaign County city. Five if Ron Zook decides to let the players skip Saturday's workout.
Can't believe it, but the opener is less than three weeks away. The Big Ten opener against Ohio State is in six weeks.
There is loads to do between now and Sept. 5. One job for the readers is to continue to give me your thoughts and questions. I appreciate the input and will try my best to get back to you immediately. It's lonely in Rantoul, so you provide the company.
Talk to you Monday.
