No. 1: Florida

Why I like the Gators: Tim Tebow is trying to become part of three national championship teams. No matter what his future is in the NFL, his college accomplishments are bordering on ridiculous. The top three running backs return from last season. So do three starters on the offensive line and tight end Aaron Hernandez. But the really good stuff is on defense, where all 11 starters. The top 20 tacklers are all back. That has probably never happened in the history of college football. Linebacker Brandon Spikes will be an awards candidate. So will defensive back Ahmad Black. The starting kicker and punter also return. The nonconference schedule is icky soft, with games against Charleston Southern, Troy, Florida International and Florida State.

Why I don't: The top two receivers are gone. Sure, there are solid players ready to take over, but none are as talented as Percy Harvin. Will the Gators be fired up to play after winning the national title? Will the players and fans resent Urban Meyer's shiny new contract in a sluggish economy? Florida does have to visit LSU.
