No. 16: TCU

Why I like the Horned Frogs: Start with defensive end Jerry Hughes, who led the nation in sacks with 15 last season. He's a force and will drive opposing offenses crazy. You have to account for him on every play. That's a good start for any defense. Quarterback Andy Dalton returns. He's a talented thrower and runner, ranking among the nation's top 35 in total offense. He scored eight rushing touchdowns. Top rusher Joseph Turner is also back. Dalton will have two of his starting receivers back and three offensive linemen. Three starting defensive backs return. Both the starting kicker and punter are back.

Why I don't: Hughes doesn't have much help returning on the defensive line. He's the only starter who will be back, giving opposing offenses a chance to gang up on him. The Horned Frogs will miss offensive coordinator Mike Schultz, who left for the same job at Illinois. The schedule is difficult, with trips early in the season to Virginia and Clemson. In the conference, TCU has to visit BYU.
