No. 12: LSU

Why I like the Tigers: Jordan Jefferson is a talented quarterback who has apparently taken the job from returning starter Jarrett Lee. Tailback Charles Scott gained 1,174 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. Receiver Brandon LaFell caught 63 passes for 929 yards and eight touchdowns. There are three starters back on the offensive line. The defense returns six starters, including three linebackers and both corners. The team finished with its best game of the season, a 38-3 Click-fil-A Bowl win against top ACC contender Georgia Tech.

Why I don't: LSU lost five games. LSU isn't supposed to lose five games in three seasons. While some of the games were close, there was a 30-point loss to Florida and a 24-point loss to Georgia. While it seems the quarterback situation is good, if Jefferson struggles, some will suggest it's time to go back to Lee. The Tigers need to replace top tackler Kendrick Lewis and top sackmaster Greg Hardy. The SEC schedule is brutal, with trips to Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.
