No. 11: Boise State
Why I like the Broncos: Sophomore quarterback Kellen Moore is a rising star. He completed 69 percent of his passes last season and was WAC Freshman of the Year. Moore has plenty of protection, with three starting offensive linemen, the starting fullback and the starting tight end returning. All-WAC end Ryan Winterswyk returns on defense. So do four starters in the secondary. Chris Petersen is an incredible 35-4 in three seasons. The nastiest game on the schedule, against Oregon, is at home.
Why I don't: The Broncos can't even think about sneaking up on opponents. Instead, they are the team everyone wants to beat. After a 12-0 regular season, Boise State is coming off a bowl loss to TCU. Maybe, the confidence will be shaken just a bit. The offense will miss tailback Ian Johnson. And the defense loses six starters from a stellar unit. The Broncos play six road games, including the WAC opener at Fresno State.
