10 days to Camp Rantoul
No. 10: Penn State
Why I like the Nittany Lions: quarterback Daryll Clark is one of the top players in the league. And he's working with a star at tailback, Evan Royster. Linebacker is a strength with Sean Lee returning from a knee injury and Navorro Bowman back after leading the team in tackles last season. Jeremy Boone is the best punter in the Big Ten and will force opposing offenses to move the ball on a long field. We don't care about his age, Joe Paterno might be the best coach in the history of the game. If he says he's ready for another year, we believe. The Nittany Lions don't leave home until October and have eight home games.
Why I don't: The top three receivers are gone from last season, which could have an impact on Clark's production. The defensive line got wiped out by graduation and an early defection to the NFL. There isn't a returning starter in the secondary. While Ohio State visits State College, the Nittany Lions have to play at Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State.
