LIKES

-  Illinois Baseball - They continue to get it done against Big Ten competition.  They took two out of three from the #23 Minnesota Golden Gophers in three slugfests.  Sounds like the offense was clicking nicely, but I’m sure coach Hartleb would like the pitching to step up again.  Still though, two out of three ain’t bad, and you can ask Meat Loaf if you don’t believe me.  The baseball team still has a solid record of 23-11 on the year and 8-4 in Big Ten play.

-  Illinois Softball – They might have had a tough weekend, but that’s expected a bit when you’re playing the #8 Michigan Wolverines.  Illinois dropped both of their games on Saturday 8-2 and 8-3.  While the games didn’t go the way Illini fans might have liked them to go, there were plenty of fans out there cheering them on.  The sixth annual “World’s Largest Tailgate” brought in a crowd of 1,028, which was the third largest crowd in history.  Way to show your support for the team.

-  Illinois Football – What a great day for a scrimmage!  The Illini held a practice scrimmage on Saturday (could not have been a better day for football), and there were some nice things that came out of it.  You can get all of the info on the scrimmage by going here, and you can see the stats by going here.

 - Illinois Volleyball – Saturday was also decent weather for volleyball, and if you were around the corner of Stadium and Oaks, you might have seen some of the Illini volleyball players playing in the 2 on 2 “Queen of the Beach” exhibition.  I have played my share of volleyball on those courts over the last couple of years.  I am usually the guy that ends up hitting the ball onto Oak Street while attempting a spike.  I’m not that good, but it’s a lot of fun.  Hope to get back out there soon.

DISLIKES

-  Sunday’s weather – YUCK.  After a nice day Saturday where I was able to take advantage of it by playing in a disc golf tournament, I just sat around Sunday staring out a window.  Heck, even the Cubs-Cardinals game was postponed.  That further ruined the day.

- “Snuggle” Blue Sparkle fabric softener – Outside of the common allergies I get during the spring and summer seasons, I thought I was one of those guys that wasn’t allergic to anything.  WRONG.  I hate this stuff now.  I spent the whole weekend scratching my arms, back, head and legs.  I’m still not completely “Snuggle” free yet, but the condition has improved.  Don’t let that cute little teddy bear fool you.  He’s the devil.

I-L-L…
