Once In A Lifetime- Hopefully
Wednesday night's loss at home to Penn State was confusing...frustrating and left everybody scratching their heads trying to figure out "what in world just happened?"
There were lots of records broken that night but the one that was the most stunning was the fact that the Illini did not get to the foul line even one time. That had never happened in 104 years of Illni basketball and may not happen for another 104 years.
They had come close though. The Illni attempted only 8 freethrows against Clemson ..7 at Minnesota.....5 against Tulsa... 4 at Wisconsin...and 3 attempts at Michigan. All but one of those was a loss (the Illini won against Tulsa at South Padre Island) and is one weakness that Coach Bruce Weber has been concerned about all year. He has challenged his team to drive inside and draw some fouls because the Illini are a solid freethrow shooting team. Sometimes they do it...sometimes they dont...but the stats show that when they are more aggressive going to the basket...they usually win.
Lets hope they keep that in mind at Value City Arena on Sunday
