Bubba goes on scholarship

Bubba Chisholm, the former walk-on, has been awarded an scholarship for the spring semester at Illinois. It's the first time the senior guard has been on an athletics scholarship at Illinois.

"It's really special for me, especially coming in here and I never expected it," Chisholm said this afternoon. "It's been above and beyond what I expected here. The coaches have been great. They've always treated me like anyone else. The coaches have always included me. It's been a huge blessing for my family. I appreciate it even more, knowing how much money it actually is."

Chisholm played his high school ball at Central and played two seasons at Lincoln Land Junior College before earning a spot as a walk-on at Illinois. The Finance major is on track to graduate from Illinois in May. Read more about Bubba's basketball career here.
